The advanced function is defined as a Fault Diagnosis System (FDS) that seeks to identify and to locate faults in substations from the analysis and filtering of information made available by the supervisory system. The proposed FDS provides the electric power system operators a reduced volume of necessary and accurate information, causing the task of fault diagnosis less stressful and faster. An implementation of the FDS function based on colored Petri nets was applied to the electric arrangement of the Beberibe substation of the electrical distribution utility COELCE.

Multi Channel Voltage Scanner – SCADA

This project “Multichannel Voltage Scanner and Control Using SCADA” is designed using the PIC Microcontroller aids in the measurement of Various Voltages From Different Areas and also provides a serial interface to the PC to achieve SCADA.

The SCADA (Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition System) is achieved by transferring the parameters to a remote terminal and getting the feedback from the remote computer and abide by the same.

The transfer rate of this microcontroller is 19400 Baud rate. This enables us to view and track the online changes encountered in the Particular parameter or of all the parameters. One of the main advantage of this project is it allows us to view all the parameter readings simultaneously on the screen. The Graph drawn on the screen keeps on tracking the changes on the parameter. It also supports Background Processing of the Parameters.

Parameters:

4 Channels of AC Voltage Measurement
4 Channels of DC Voltage Measurement

Software:

Software Compatibility with ‘C’ and Visual Basic.

Digital Energy Meter and Voice Annunciation With Proximity Card

The “Digital Energy meter” replaces the old Energy meter to update the current system of Electricity metering. Presently we have the analog meter which has a moving coil and based on the electricity consumed the speed of the coil varies. The electricity units are calculated based on the no of rotations of the coil. This is the old method. Now with our project we can have the Energy consumed (Units) will be displayed on a seven segment display.

Multiple Starter With Overload and High, Low Voltage Protection

This project aims to use the computer keyboard as a dual controller for switching Electrical Motors etc. Also we can monitor the Current for the devices. This power is displayed on the monitor with the aid of suitable software.
The operation of transformers in parallel becomes necessary because:

If the amount to be transformed is greater than which can be handled by one transformer, it becomes necessary to employ two or more units in parallel.

To meet the additional demand or a power system it becomes necessary to replace the existing unit by unit of greater capacity or to install the additional unit to carry a portion of the load. The cost of making such changes will in many cases be greater than if the original transformer is connected in parallel with another to carry a portion of the load. Hence in this project “Power Sharing of Transformers” paralleling of transformers becomes necessary.

In case of deviations from the normal values, suitable control actions can be implemented to ensure reliable operation of relays. So the transformers are connected in parallel to share the load.

It also has thermistor to monitor the temperature of the transformer, and a Flame Sensor to detect the Flame, and a Intruder Sensor to detect intruder and the transformer will be tripped if any of the above is sensed.

Also we have Recycling Time which will monitor the load, and disconnects the unwanted transformer from sharing.

Remote Control Of AC / DC Motor With Parameter Monitoring

This project aims to use the computer keyboard as a dual controller for switching Electrical Motors etc. Also we can monitor the Current for the devices. The parameters are classified into Analog and Logic Parameters

Analog Parameters:

1. But sun moves in a elliptical path. So only few hours the sunlight falls into the cell. During the rest of the hours the percentage of Sunlight, which falls into the cell, is very less, which results in less amount of energy generation.

To overcome this problem we can construct a model where we can place the solar cell in it and which can move in elliptical path .To track the sunlight. This is achieved with the help of light intensity sensors. The sensors are fixed into the model in an elliptical path. So depending on the sunlight the sensors output differs. So according position the solar panel, which results in good efficiency. (i.e.).the solar cell can produce energy by tracking the sunlight with the help of sensors and mechanical model. The Movement is controlled by a PIC Microcontroller. Also we have an LCD Display to Show the Generated Cell Voltage and Current.

Automatic Railway Gate Signaling Simulator and Controller

This project is used for automatically close/open the railways gate when the train comes. Sensors are placed in the two sides of the track. If the train reaches one sensor, the gate will automatically close & then if the train reached the second one the gate will automatically open. The Microcontroller will sense the presence of trains by using Infrared red sensors. So on sensing the train on one path, the controller will give pulses to the stepper motor to close the gate automatically.

For demonstration we can design a model railway track and train passing with advanced simulation style and action using programs. The same can be shown on computer screen which is optional.

 Fuzzy Logic Based Collision Prevention For Vehicle

This project is used to track the position of a vehicle in a path and provides complete information about the vehicle and the path. The Project has the following features:

Tracking the Position of a Vehicle:

We can track the position of a vehicle along with its path and it can be shown on the display of the computer. The route map is displayed on the monitor and an object indicating the vehicle moves along the path. The movement depends upon the hardware inputs like speed and direction.

Path Validation:

Path validation can be done. Since all the paths are stored on the computer, if the vehicle goes in the wrong route that can be indicated on the screen.

Parameter Monitoring:

On the display itself we can monitor the vehicle parameters like Speed, Window Status, Engine temperature etc.

Vehicle Guidance System:

Since complete information of the path is stored on the computers database, Salient points along the route like Level crossings, Hospitals, Subways, big towns can be displayed on the screen beforehand.

Collision Prevention System:

Collision Prevention sensors are fixed on the vehicle, so that when the Sensor detects an object in front of the vehicle, it gives an alarm to the driver stating that the vehicle is about to collide.

Real Time Distance Monitoring System:

Real time distance can be monitored. Mostly is Wireless Communications there will be a Transmitter unit and a Receiver unit and the type of transmission can be Infrared, RF etc. Here, the problem is the communication is Simplex communication i.e., One end we can transmit data and on the other end we can receive data. No duplex communication is possible. To overcome this factor, we can develop a project in which we can send and receive data in wireless.

This will be useful for many applications such as in hospitals, schools, colleges etc. Here in our project we have an idea to have an Hand held device in which we have a transmitter and a receiver unit fixed in that device where we can enable the transmitter, Send a message and deactivate it. Then Activate the receiver unit wait for the acknowledgment or for the data to come in and deactivate it. The other side also has a similar unit.

For the Hand Held device we have decided to use a PIC microcontroller with LCD Display and Keypad. We have decided to use a RF Transmitter and Receiver unit whose frequency is 433.92 MHz.

RF Based Heart Beat Monitoring System With Pacemaker

Any old person or a heart patient needs for monitoring of their Heartbeat and ECG. Our project can be kept even in houses, where we can constantly monitor the above said parameters. This project can also be used in the ICU or in operation Theaters to identify the Heart Beat Rate of the patient. The sensor used for this detection can he simply housed on the patient’s finger.

The sensor detects pumping of the heart and produces a voltage output. This is then transferred to the computer. In the computer the output is plotted with respect to the real time to the heart beat rate. The Heartbeat Rate per minute is also given on the computer. This information can be stored on the computer and can be used to analyze a status of the patient.

The main advantage of this project is the heartbeat is transferred to the computer through wireless.

Fuzzy Logic Based Collision Prevention For Vehicle

In this project fuzzy control is used to regulate the speed of a vehicle depending on the distance between vehicle 1 and vehicle 2.

The vehicle is mounted with a wireless transmitter and backward vehicle is mounted with a wireless receiver. The distance between the two is given as a variable voltage by the electronic circuitry which in this case is a CPU but in actual case will be an embedded micro controller system. Depending on the distance between the two vehicles a speed control system is affected using fuzzy logic and thereby the collision is totally avoided.

Features:

a) Detects the proximity of the distance between two speeding vehicles and accordingly provides a fuzzy control action
b) Used in unmanned Research vehicle systems.
c) Can be extended in a GPS environment to track the position of the vehicle also as done in a flight system.
d) Speed control is effected automatically and hence is very effective in blind track systems/vision less systems.

Typical fuzzy rules used for speed regulation includes.

a) If proximity of receiving vehicle is far from transmitting vehicle then the speed of receiving vehicle is max.
b) If proximity of receiving vehicle is medium from transmitting vehicle then the speed of receiving vehicle is medium.
c) If proximity of receiving vehicle is close to transmitting vehicle then the speed of receiving vehicle is min.
d) If proximity of receiving vehicle is very close to transmitting vehicle then the speed of receiving vehicle is zero.
Thus in the above project the speed of the vehicle is regulated depending on the magnitude of the distance between two vehicles. The scheme finds lot of application in collision prevention in highways/vision less roads/steep turns etc.

Circuits involved:

a) Signal conditioning circuit
b) A/D converter
c) F to V Convertor
d) Driver circuits to run stepper motor
e) Intelligent Microcontroller
f) Stepper Motor whose speed is to be regulated.

Input of the fuzzy control system

We use two input values to determine the output of the Fuzzy Control System. The inputs to Fuzzy inputs are

iii. Distance
iv. Speed

Distance = Distance from the object to the vehicle. Distance can be given as a input from the potentiometer.

Speed = Speed of the vehicle. Speed can be determined by using FTOV Circuit.

GPS Based Highway Monitoring and Control

This project uses the PIC Microcontroller 16F877 to control and monitor the parameters of vehicles while traveling in highways. The main aim of this project is to control the speed of the bus on encountering of some important zones like Schools, Hospitals and Level Crossing etc. The zones are detected using a transmitter and receiver. The transmitter will be placed on the Zone and the receiver in the vehicles. On encountering Particular zone the receiver got signaled and the controller begins to reduce the speed of the vehicle. On leaving that zone the controller automatically increases the speed of the vehicle.

This project also has a Map to show the passengers, at what station the vehicle started and to indicate the encountered stations on that route. This is done with the help of various LEDs fixed on the map. It has a temperature sensor connected to a vehicle and has a display board to monitor the outside temperature. It also indicates the direction of the vehicle presently moving i.e., towards North or East or West or South.

Fuzzy Logic Control In Automated Train Speed Control System

Nowadays everything in the world is getting automated to support and reduce the work of the humans. When a system is automated it should have more advantages and should be safe. Here in this project we have the idea to automate a train movement between stations i.e., the train itself has to know that it is reaching its destination and should get slow down to stop at the destination. This is simply like the art of putting the human brain into an electric vehicle, to act accordingly. The Best way of incorporating a human brain into train can be done only with the help of fuzzy controller.

Introduction and Need for Fuzzy Logic:

Fuzzy logic is a powerful new technology and has emerged as a profitable tool for the controlling of subway systems and complex industrial processes, as well as for household and entertainment electronics, diagnosis systems and other expert systems. Although, fuzzy logic was invented in United States the rapid growth of this technology has started from Japan and has now again reached the USA and Europe also.

Fuzzy has become a keyword for marketing. Electronic articles without fuzzy component gradually turn out to be a dead stock. As a gag, that shows the popularity of fuzzy logic, there even exists a toilet paper with ‘Fuzzy Logic’ Printed on it. In Japan fuzzy-research is widely supported with a huge budget. In Europe and the USA efforts are being made to catch up with the tremendous Japanese success. For instance, the NASA space agency is engaged in applying fuzzy logic for complex docking-maneuvers.

Fuzzy logic is basically a multi-valued logic that allows intermediate values to be defined between conventional evaluations like yes/no, true/false, black/white etc. Notions like rather warm or pretty cold can be formulated mathematically and processed by computers. In this way an attempt is made to apply a more human-like way of thinking in the Automation of Trains.

Proposed System

The proposed system uses “sensors” to detect the speed of the train and also for calculating the remaining distance. The output from the sensors are conditioned and given as a input to the PIC micro controller. As a radio-based technology it allows devices to share information over a maximum range of 10 meters. Bluetooth enables mobile computers, mobile phones, portable handhelds, and the Internet to “talk the talk” without cables. With bluetooth, devices don't need to be 'looking' at each unlike other wireless technologies (i.e. infrared). As long as two bluetooth devices are close enough to each other, it’s possible to make a connection. With bluetooth technology getting connected takes on a whole new meaning.

This project designed using the dsPIC Microcontroller aids in the measurement and control of various Global Parameters with Bluetooth Technology and provides a interface to the PC. This project has a provision for Switching of house hold devices like Fan, Tube lights, Televisions etc through telephone from anywhere in the world, as well as from your very own house using blue tooth technology. To make this project work with two different technologies, we have used two different microcontrollers with the same hardware.

TELEPHONE NETWORK

The telephone network is achieved with the use of an Embedded Microcontroller and a Telephone Circuitry. To accomplish this, a call is made from a remote telephone or Cell phone. Once the Call is made our telephone circuitry identifies it and establishes the call. Now the remote user can press the particular no for Switching on or switching off the devices. And then by entering the # key he can disconnect the call.

The one main advantage of this project is we can get the feedback through Voice. I.e., after switching on a device we can hear a message in the cell phone stating that the “Air Conditioner Switched ON”.

One main advantage of this project is, if the controller senses any obstacle during the closure of gates (Unable to close the gate) it automatically signals the nearby computer to send this message to a remote CELL Phone thro WAP.

PLC based Bottle filling station with conveyors

This Project is used in Bottling Plants like Coca cola, Pepsi etc to fill the Beverages into the bottle automatically. Since the commercial Jammer is very costly , this project makes use of a single frequency of 433.92 MHz. To start with, a transmitter transmits a signal which will be received by the receiver on which case the receiver activates the Lamp.
